27-year anniversary of Marvin Gaye's murder
On this day in 1984 legendary R&B singer Marvin Gaye was shot and killed by a family member . Gaye was murdered the day before his 45th birthday, and in 1987 the crooner was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll of Fame.
