Amanpour leaving 'This Week'
Amanpour leaving 'This Week'. Christiane Amanpour is saying goodbye to ABC's Sunday morning interview show This Week, and Good Morning America's George Stephanopoulos is returning as its host, a job he previously held for eight years.
Amanpour is returning to CNN with a weekday broadcast on CNN International, which she left in 2010. But in a shared arrangement, Amanpour will remain at ABC as a "global affairs anchor" and plans several prime-time specials.
"I am looking forward to getting back into the field to report stories on global issues that matter greatly to the American people," she said in a statement. "This role is groundbreaking, bold and very different."
Stephanopoulos will continue hosting Good Morning America, but ABC said it would most likely be on a four-day schedule. He'll return to This Week, which he hosted from 2002 to 2010, on Jan. 8.
