Mayor admits affair at council meeting. Residents of a California town are calling for the resignation of their mayor after he admitted an affair at a regular council meeting. Mayor Mario Hernandez of San Fernando reportedly ordered his wife ejected from the meeting if she spoke up. San Fernando residents are stunned over the bombshell their mayor dropped at the end of a recent city council meeting.

In audio from last Monday's meeting, Mayor Mario Hernandez announced he filed for personal bankruptcy, separated from his wife and was having an affair with Councilwoman Maribel De La Torre.

"I'd like to put out there and squash the rumors that yes I have been in a relationship with Councilwoman de la Torre," said Hernandez.

According to the San Fernando Sun, Hernandez's wife was sitting in the front row during the meeting and said they were not separated.

She was then ushered out by police at her husband's request.
